Monitor held a roundtable in October to consider how to ensure that it acts in the best interests of patients when it takes on its proposed new role. Our roundtable, held under the Chatham House Rule, brought together a number of leading patient representatives, patient organisations and patient focused policy makers.

Following a scene-setting introduction from MORI’s Head of Health Research, Jonathan Nicholls, participants discussed a number of key themes including:

  • Cultural change and connecting with patients
  • Understanding what patients want and the role of choice
  • Quality versus finance
  • The role of commissioners and regulators
