Current applicants

There are three phases to the NHS foundation trust application process. Monitor’s assessment process is phase three, and starts once an NHS trust has received approval from the Secretary of State for Health to apply for NHS foundation trust status.

The following NHS trusts have received Secretary of State approval to apply for NHS foundation trust status:

• Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust
• The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust
• Kent and Medway Social Care Partnership NHS Trust
• Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust
• Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust
• Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust
• The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust
• Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust 
• Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust

If you have any information which you wish Monitor to consider concerning one of the NHS trusts included in the above list, please contact us.

If you have a comment or complaint about an aspirant NHS foundation trust which is not included in the above list then it should, in the first instance, be referred to that trust.

Alternatively, a complaint about an NHS trust may be made to the relevant primary care trust. You can find details about your primary care trust on the NHS Choices website: www.nhs.uk.
