HFMA / Monitor Service Line Management Conference: The Next Level
Following the highly successful Monitor / HFMA conference on Service-Line Management (SLM) held in April 2008, this event formed part two of a series of conferences sharing new ideas and best practice and pointing to future SLM developments.
The conference expanded further on the concept of SLM and included case study data and findings from a number of foundation trusts. In addition the event involved key speakers from the US and Europe.
Themes explored:
- How SLM is improving the clinical contribution to strategic decision making;
- How SLM is resulting in increased productivity;
- How SLM is helping shape M&A analysis;
- How SLR is helping improve locally negotiated contracts, especially mental health; and
- How SLR / SLM principles are emerging in foundation trust assessment applications and how trusts are pushing SLM practices to improve their market position.
It was heard how SLR / SLM has influenced Lord Darzi's Next Stage Review and how SLM is being used to improve patient satisfaction and patient improvement metrics, both of which lie at the heart of the drive for quality.
