Strategic Financial Leadership Programme for NHS finance leaders

The Strategic Financial Leadership Programme is the product of a unique collaboration between the Department of Health, the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and Monitor. It has been created to address the challenges facing finance directors in the modern NHS and will help develop their skills by focusing on leading-edge developments in the world of finance and management.

The tailored two-week course is being delivered by Cass Business School, an institution with an international reputation for first-class business education.

Split over two five-day blocks, the programme covers a range of subjects pertinent to any finance director working in the NHS, including corporate governance, risk management, strategic planning, negotiation skills and treasury management and capital budgeting.

Delegates will benefit from the highly structured content, but also significant networking opportunities, enabling participants to share their views and experiences with colleagues from different parts of the NHS. Cass Business School has state-of-the-art facilities and experience of delivering highly specified work programmes, tailored to meet the unique demands of different sectors.

The course is open to finance leaders from NHS foundation trusts, NHS trusts, primary care trusts and strategic health authorities. Monitor considers it highly advantageous for finance directors of aspirant foundation trusts to have attended the course pre-assessment.
